PBS brings us the personal accounts of WWII veterans through the Ken Burns series, THE WAR.

The Texas State University School of Journalism and Mass Communication and KLRU-TV, Austin PBS, hosted a panel discussion on October 15th focusing on documentary filmmaking and the Ken Burns series, The War.  The event was held in the Teaching Theater of the Avery Building at the Round Rock Higher Education Center.

KLRU-TV President and General Manager Bill Stotesbery moderated the panel.  KLRU-TV producers Domenique Bellavia and Sean Cunningham and acclaimed filmmaker Hector Galán shared their insight and expertise with students and community members.

The audience screened segments of the KLRU produced documentary The World, The War and Texas in addition to the Burns series. Panelists and students discussed the controversy surrounding the late addition of Latinos to the Burns documentary. Galán discussed the impact on PBS, independent filmmaking and the Latino community.  This panel discussion is available online at www.judyoskam.com
