Lazos 2013

April 12, 7-11 p.m., LBJ Ballroom, Texas State University

The main purpose of Lazos, a celebration following the Puntos De Vista Film Festival, is to build a closer bond by highlighting the art of the Spanish-language documentaries, outlining undergraduate student's talents and promoting Spanish-language cultures. The Latino social gathering facilitates the integration of students who share similar cultures, ideas and goals.

Lazos and Puntos De Vista 2013 will include students from Colombia, Mexico, Peru and the U.S. Come enjoy a night of celebration!

Salsa Del Rio

Salsa Del Rio

Salsa del Rio is a Salsa and Latin Jazz Ensemble at Texas State University. This ensemble is dedicated to the study and performance of music from Latin America. This consists of music from Cuba, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and Mexico.



Mariachi Nueva Generacion

Mariachi Nueva Generacion at Texas State University  is dedicated to the study and performance of the true Mexican art form known as Mariachi. Nueva Generacion studies and perform music in many styles such as son, huapango, bolero, polka, and many others.


Jim Estrada

Keynote Speaker Jim Estrada

Keynote speaker Jim Estrada is the President and CEO at Estrada Communications Group, a position he assumed in 1992 after an illustrious corporate career. Jim is a pioneer in ethnic communications, with over 40 years of general and ethnic oriented corporate marketing and community relations experience. The agency provides its clients with a combination of cultural acumen and professional communications experience to attain marketing and image building objectives related to the fast growing Hispanic consumer market. Jim's corporate experience spans over 25 years in management position with some of the nation's top companies. He served as director of Hispanic beer brand marketing for Anheuser-Busch in St. Louis, MO, developed Anheuser-Busch Companies' Southwestern corporate outreach and philanthropic efforts in Houston, Texas, oversaw general market advertising and public relations for McDonald's California, Arizona and Nevada markets in San Diego, CA and directed television and film documentary production for McGraw-Hill Broadcasting in New York City.

Jim Estrada majored in Journalism at San Diego State University and completed advanced studies at the Center for Corporate Community Relations, Boston College.
