Salsa del Rio is a Salsa and Latin Jazz Ensemble at Texas State University. This ensemble is dedicated to the study and performance of music from Latin America. This consists of music from Cuba, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and Mexico.

Orquesta Del Rio, the second Salsa and Latin Jazz Ensemble at Texas State University, focuses on the study and performance of music from Latin America. This includes the music from Cuba, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and Mexico. Some of the popular styles they perform includes Mambo, Son-Montuno, Cha Cha, Bolero, and Merengue.

Mariachi Nueva Generacion at Texas State University is dedicated to the study and performance of the true Mexican art form known as Mariachi. Nueva Generacion studies and perform music in many styles such as son, huapango, bolero, polka, and many others.

Keynote speaker Robert E. Bard is the President and CEO at LATINA Style, Inc., a position he assumed in 2001 after the untimely passing of his spouse and business partner, Anna Maria Arias, founder, editor & publisher of LATINA Style Magazine. Bard founded the Anna Maria Arias Foundation, a recognition program for Latina entrepreneurs. He has also developed four signature programs for the company, including the LATINA Style Business Series, known as the most successful ongoing business development program for Latina business owners in the nation.
Bard is married to Lupita Comenero, publisher of El Hispano News and Founder of Parents Step Ahead Foundation in Dallas.

The Alpha Upsilon chapter of Hermandad de Sigma Iota Alpha Inc. has greatly contributed to the organization of Lazos 2012. The chapter was founded in May 2010 at Texas State University. Hermandad de Sigma Iota Alpha Inc. is made up of women whose goals are to strive academically, professionally and culturally. Hermandad de Sigma Iota Alpha Inc. has national and international philanthropies, Camp One Heartland and Children’s International.
The Alpha Upsilon chapter also helps the local community by volunteering with many organizations and participating in community service events such as being part of the Travis Elementary School mentoring program, and participating in the Multiple Sclerosis (MS) walk in San Antonio, Texas.
The Alpha Upsilon chapter is co-hosting “Lazos”, an event that promotes and celebrates the Latino culture. As a chapter and a national organization, Hermandad de Sigma Iota Alpha Inc. strives to promote the different cultures within the organization.
