Minor in Mass Communication
Any student seeking a bachelor's degree and not majoring in Mass Communication may minor in Mass Communication. Requirements are MC 3343-Introduction to Public Relations, MC 3355-Mass Media & Society, MC 3367-Advertising and MC 4302-History of Mass Media, plus six hours selected from MC 1301, 3375, 4303, 4308, 4309, 4310, 4318, 4319, 4382L, 4382M, 4382N, 4382O, 4382P, 4382R. The GSP test is not required for this minor.
Mass Communication Minor for those seeking Journalism as second teaching field (670.66)
Any student seeking a bachelor's degree with teacher certification may select Journalism as a second teaching field.
Requirements are MC 1301-Introduction to Mass Communication, MC 1313-Writing for the Mass Media, MC 3374-Information Gathering and Analysis, MC 3383-Editing for Clear Communication, MC 3390-Publication Design and Production and MC 4301-Mass Communication Law. A passing score on the GSP test is required.
Prerequisites
MC 1301 does not have prerequisites. MC 1313 and MC 3390 require a passing score on the GSP test. MC 3374 requires MC 1313. MC 3383 and MC 4301 require a "C" or better in MC 1313.
