Short Courses

Digital Dash LogoTake a Digital Dash. These one-credit-hour short courses introduce students to digital skills and emerging topics in a short sprint or compressed timeframe instead of the standard three-credit-hour format. We offer these one-credit-hour courses in new formats to meet the scheduling needs of students. Take one or more in a semester. Past short courses have included Digital Ethics, Drone and Sensors, Digital-First Mindset, Video for Social Media, Coding Workshop, Virtual Reality/360 Video, Cyberlaw and Making a Mobile App.

During Spring 2018, the following short courses are offered. 

MC1100D: Digital Entrepreneurship
Instructor: Cindy Royal

This course explores innovation and creativity associated with digital entrepreneurship. Through a speaker series, students will be introduced to important concepts and ideas from thought leaders and innovators at the intersection of media and technology. 

MC1100E: Social Media Certifications
Instructor: Dale Blasingame

Learn about social and digital certifications that are valuable to communicators.

MC1100IE: Mobile Storytelling in the State Park
Instructor: Dale Blasingame

Opt outside with this course that lets you tell stories in nature. 

MC1100IE: Drone Workshop
Instructor: Dale Blasingame

In this course, you'll learn about the role of drones in communication and what you need to do to get the FAA drone certification.  

MC1100E: Data Journalism
Instructor: Kelly Kaufhold and Daniel Carter

Learn about the emerging role of data in journalism.
