Christa Ward is a part-time lecturer in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Texas State University. She joins the part-time faculty this year to teach Writing for Mass Media and Writing for Electronic Media. In addition to her responsibilities at Texas State University, Ward also teaches other online communication classes. Prior to joining Texas State University, Ward held assistant professor positions at the University of Georgia and University of Oklahoma. Ward has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Telecommunication and Russian Language and Area Studies and a Master of Arts degree in Mass Communication from Texas Tech University and a Doctorate in Mass Communication from the University of Iowa.
Prior to her academic career, Ward was an award-winning television news anchor/reporter for television stations in Texas and Georgia. Dr. Ward is also an award-winning teacher who has been in charge of student-run television newscasts. She has also taught writing for broadcast, writing and producing, mass communication theory, social media and marketing classes in both traditional and online environments. Ward has also served on numerous theses, doctoral and service committees.
