Dr. Clay Craig teaches in the advertising sequence in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Texas State University.
Prior to working at Texas State University, Craig was an Assistant Professor in the Communication, Languages and Cultures Department at Coastal Carolina University. While at CCU, Craig created advertising courses and assisted in the rebranding of the department.
The primary objective of Craig’s research is to examine the current media environment as a way to understand the factors influencing consumer behavior. Some of Craig’s projects involve assessing nation branding and dark tourism, analyzing music lyrics from both health and advertising perspectives, exploring factors influencing perceptions of product placement, motivations for prosocial behavior, and how health professionals and organizations utilize digital media to communicate with patients.
Craig earned a Ph.D. in Mass Communications from Texas Tech University, an M.B.A. from Texas Tech University and a B.S. in Psychology from the University of Texas, Austin.
