Gilbert D. Martinez is an assistant professor and has taught Media Law at Texas State since fall 2003. He graduated with a J.D. from Fordham University School of Law in New York in 2000.
 
From 1993 to 1997, Martinez worked as a newspaper reporter at The Jersey Journal in Jersey City, N.J. He worked as the weekend police reporter, general assignment reporter and the court reporter covering criminal and civil trials. Martinez was awarded a New Voices Fellowship from the Academy for Educational Development which allowed him to work as a legal fellow in Austin from 2000-2002.
