MC4320 - Public Relations Campaigns
Dr. Jinbong Choi is an assistant professor in the School of Journalism & Mass Communications and author of five books: Media, Culture and Korea (2008); Reading Media (1998); Event PD Guide (1998); Modern Society and Korean Mass Media (1997); and Understanding Christian Communication (1996). Dr. Choi began his career at the Korean Navy as a Public Relations Officer, later moving on to several radio stations and newspapers in South Korea as commentator and editorial writer. He has also published several scholarly articles dealing with international communication, new media, political economy of mass media, and media framing. He has presented numerous research papers at international conferences. His main research interests are international news coverage, new media, relationship between mass media and powerful ideological institutions, media framing. He was awarded a PhD from the Department of Communication Studies at University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. He taught at Bemidji State University and Minnesota State University, Mankato as an assistant professor. Further, he was teaching at University of Minnesota, Brown College, and Lansing Community College as a lecturer. In addition, he was received the Excellent Teaching Award from International Communication Association.
