Interns with PC work with the press, the Legislature and other public interest groups to change laws and educate the public on environmental, consumer rights and ethics issues. Interns usually develop presentations for various audiences, run citizen-organizing campaigns, and research and write reports - on topics from renewable energy to ethics reform - that are released to the media and the legislature. As integral parts of a busy advocacy team, PC interns often set up and conduct press conferences, organize demonstrations, and write op/eds for major newspapers. New Media interns will be responsible for logging, editing, encoding and scanning media to be placed on the SXSW Web site. The individual must be Mac capable to encode film trailers and festival coverage.
