Graduate student Becky Larson speaks with Texas Tribune Editor Emily Ramshaw

Digital Media Entrepreneurship Speaker Series

The Digital Media Entrepreneurship Speaker Series - is designed to bring the best and brightest minds in digital entrepreneurship to the Texas State campus so our students can have direct access to them. The speaker series is part of three classes this Spring in the SJMC: MC4328, the Digital Media Capstone, MC5323, a three-hour course for graduate students and MC1100D Digital Entrepreneurship short course.

The courses are taught by Dr. Kelly Kaufhold at the graduate level and Dr. Cindy Royal at the undergraduate level, with assistance throughout the semester from fellow digital faculty members Jon Zmikly and Dale Blasingame.

Through the bi-monthly speaker series, our students will be immersed in entrepreneurial concepts, knowledge of current trends in digital media and will get to meet one-on-one with distinguished entrepreneurs who have started their own businesses and succeeded in the digital era. Students in these classes have either started their own companies, are interning for a start-up or have a genuine passion to learn about the start-up culture and, perhaps one day, create their own companies.

Speaker series discussions are open to the entire Texas State student body. During Spring 2018, they will be held every other Monday from 6:30-8 p.m. in Old Main 320. You can see the schedule and a list of the speakers at You can also follow along during series events with the #txstdigital hashtag on Twitter.
