Daniel Carter is an assistant professor of digital media. He holds a Ph.D. in Information Studies from the University of Texas at Austin and an M.A. in English Literature from The Ohio State University. He has over ten years of experience in web design and development and currently teaches courses focused on coding and data.

Dr. Carter’s research focuses on how people adapt technologies in order to meet their distinct needs. He is especially interested in how we can build technologies and educate students in ways the support creative, personally meaningful use. He has side interests in digital humanities, data visualization, labor and infrastructure.

His research has been published in Social Media + Society, ACM Proceedings on Human-Computer Interaction and Designing Interactive Systems, Journal of Documentation and Journal of the Association for Information Science and Technology.
